About Rebecca
I have two years of experience providing literacy tutoring through a nonprofit organization, working with struggling readers using a structured phonics-based approach. I have also used this approach when informally tutoring children in reading. My instruction focuses on helping beginning readers develop decoding skills, recognize words more confidently, and build a strong foundation for independent reading.

I believe children learn best in a positive, encouraging environment rather than one focused on criticism. Recognizing and reinforcing what a student is doing well helps build confidence and gives them the tools to understand their mistakes and know how to move forward.
I tailor lessons to each child’s individual needs and learning style but generally structure the lesson around phonetic and sight word practice, reading and comprehension.
Whether your child is building foundational phonics and sight-word skills, developing reading fluency, or working on reading comprehension, I would love to help them become a more confident and enthusiastic reader.
