About Rachel
The English language is an extremely pivotal part of my personality; my identity, ideals, goals, and expression are so interwoven with English that to remove it from my life would be akin to robbing me of several vital organs. As a TESL graduate with a minor in Literature from the University of Malaya, every day I am reminded of how fortunate I am, to be able to pursue a course in a field I have always loved. In my classes, I often encourage my students to put themselves in their work and explore their creativity and confidence at their own paces, I love what I do, immensely. I believe teaching is a sacred vocation, and I aim to enrich the education of the world, one mind at a time. When I am not teaching children to love English or themselves, I am either obtaining creative inspiration for my poetry, journaling, or writing food reviews.

I am a firm advocate of letting my students put themselves in their work; I believe language learning is most effective in personal expression. After all, no two people will ever express themselves in the same way. I like to give my students creative license to explore their ideas and thoughts - no idea is ever too ridiculous. A lesson with me typically lasts between 1-2 hours; at present, I coach children aged 7-10 in public speaking, storytelling, and creative writing, and I have had experience teaching English and Literature at the secondary level as well.
