About Alice
I believe that every student can be a great reader and writing; some just need a little help figuring out what they want to read and write.
I recently presented as a guest lecturer for a Writing and Research class, during which I spoke with the students about engaging with research through personal interest, and the professor who observed my teaching noted that this "was a very helpful gesture. Reading the students’ reflections has shown me that several of them were inspired by your presentation—not just on the subject matter but also by the evident enthusiasm you have for your research. I was guiding these students through their final projects, and many were reluctant to begin something new new due to the [unforeseen] circumstances [that led to Alice teaching the class]. I feel like your presentation was a catalyst to move them past their understandable reluctance to restart the writing process, and I am very grateful that you agreed to do it. ...I have every confidence in your teaching and no concerns."

My teaching methods primarily involve the use of questioning in which I ask students guiding questions that work to engage them in higher order thinking.
My lesson plan is typically unique to each student's needs but always involves the following steps: establish a goal the student wishes to achieve by the end of the lesson, identify 2-3 blocks that are preventing them from reaching that goal, and guide them through these blocks through engagement of evaluative and critical thinking.
I have successfully implemented these steps with general education students from grades 6-12, as well as with non-English undergraduate and graduate-level college students.
