About Wren
I have been a teacher for over 10 years, with long-term in-school teaching for the previous 7 years. I have worked in the High School, Middle School, and Elementary School settings, with the longest amounts of time in the Middle and High School. I thoroughly enjoy helping students feel confident and proud of themselves when they either understand a concept or get that "ah ha!" moment. I have worked as the general education teacher and as the special education teacher, working alongside the general education teacher in a co-teacher position to help students that need the extra help, lessons adapted, or to reteach a lesson in a way that the student understands.

I specialize in one-on-one lessons, with first becoming familiar with student's current abilities and strengths. I scaffold and build upon their strengths and knowledge to give them a strong foundation in which to grow.
A typical lesson has a short review of previously taught concepts, followed by teaching new concepts with strategies that work best with the student's strengths and abilities.
I have spent many years working alongside general classroom teachers and learning how they teach, while also adapting their lessons for students with special needs, such as learning and reading comprehension. I understand what the student needs to know in order to pass the lesson, but also what they need to know that will grow into more complex concepts later on.
