About Melody

About Me Hi! I’m Melody, a high school junior from New York with a passion for writing and literature. I plan to major in English and currently take AP Lang, College Creative Writing, and am a member of the English Honors Society. My work has been published in numerous literary magazines, newspapers, Teen Ink websites, and business journals. I have experience with standardized testing, scoring a 610 on the SAT Reading & Writing section and a 30 on the ACT Reading section. In addition to creative writing, poetry, and essay composition, I also offer support for the NYS English Regents. Whether you’re looking to refine your writing skills, master tricky grammar rules, or prepare for an exam, I’m here to help!

About the lesson

My Teaching Method & Techniques I believe that writing is a skill anyone can master with the right guidance. My tutoring approach is personalized—I start by identifying your strengths and areas for improvement, then tailor lessons to your needs. I break down complex grammar rules into simple, easy-to-remember strategies and help students develop strong, structured arguments in their essays. Through interactive exercises, detailed feedback, and writing prompts, I aim to build both confidence and technical skill. A Typical Lesson Plan Each session begins with a brief review of previous work or concepts, followed by targeted instruction. If we’re working on essays, I guide students through brainstorming, outlining, and drafting, offering feedback along the way. For standardized test prep, I provide practice questions and strategies to tackle tricky grammar and reading comprehension sections. Every lesson ends with key takeaways and optional practice exercises to reinforce learning. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor As a student myself, I understand the challenges of academic writing and standardized testing firsthand. I make lessons engaging, approachable, and stress-free while helping students develop a deeper appreciation for writing.
