About Alexis
I am a recent Master's graduate in Social Policy from the University of Oxford, and hold a First Class Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Sociology from the National University of Singapore. I am passionate about cultivating ways of understanding the world for both myself and others, and believe that language is a critical foundation for that. My entry point into enjoying academic learning was a love for reading texts of all kinds, from fiction to non-fiction, or novels to magazines. This was essential to my subsequent interest in and ability to grasp increasingly complicated concepts in various disciplines in the humanities and social sciences, spanning English Literature, History, Sociology and Political Science. I hope to be able to inspire the same love for learning in others. I have 6 years of experience delivering one-to-one tutoring for students across the Primary and Secondary levels in various humanities and social science subjects. In my teaching, I am passionate about breaking down complex concepts into understandable terms, and enjoy adapting lessons to students' needs and interests to develop an enduring and sincere interest and passion for the subject at hand.

I am passionate about inspiring a love for English and curiosity about the way society works in others! Having received a First Class Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Sociology, alongside a Master's degree in Social Policy from the University of Oxford, I am proficient in multiple areas of study, including English and Literature, Politics, Sociology and related disciplines. I have 6 years of experience delivering one-to-one tutoring across these subjects. I believe that developing a genuine love for reading is the foundation of enjoying and excelling in all humanities and social science subjects. As such, as a tutor, I focus on cultivating a strong grasp of foundational concepts and methods of understanding and critically analysing complex information, and am highly adaptable to my students' area of interests and preferred way of learning. The typical length of a lesson is 1.5 hours, but I am flexible to accommodate individual students' needs and preferences. Lessons and relevant materials are prepared ahead of time, and students will have access to these resources after lessons to revise from.
