About Stephenie

Hi there!

My name is Stephenie. I teach students from 5 years and up in English for reading, writing, spelling, grammar, and phonics. For English as a Second Language learners (ESL), I have taught students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. In addition, I have also taught extensively students with special abilities such as dyslexia, autism, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I have also tutored adult learners in academic writing for university and business writing for employment.

I am a certified early childhood education teacher, a certified substitute teacher for K-12 grades, and am certified in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). In addition, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Public Administration with a specialization in Nonprofit Management.

I am dependable and professional. In addition, I am also easy going, have a great sense of humor that I bring to my lessons, flexible, and personable. I love teaching, and my goal is not only to help people learn, but to help them to love learning.

About the lesson

I bring creativity, my sense of humor, and my easy going personality into every lesson I teach. Learning should always be fun! My students have fun and learn so much at the same time. That is the key to good teaching; not just what you learn, but how you learn, and how you feel while learning. My students learn so much from me, but they also have fun doing it and enjoy what they are learning, even if they have had a hard time with the subject in the past.

I tailor how I teach to each student to their specific needs and goals. I assess the student for their level in their chosen subject and also for how they learn. People learn in three ways, visually (through seeing), auditorily (through hearing), and kinesthetically (through doing). Most people have one or two ways that they use to learn. Some people learn equally well through all three ways. I don't have a typical lesson plan, because there is no such thing as a "typical" person. Everyone is unique, and so are my lessons. I use a variety of media depending on how the student best learns, through recordings, videos, Powerpoint presentations, digital media, and written material. With children, I make up games for the children to learn.

My lessons are for everyone ages 5 years and up. I teach native English speakers, as well as people who are learning English as a Second Language (ESL). I teach people learning English at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.

There are no additional fees when I am your tutor. I provide all materials for learning. There is nothing for you to purchase. My set hourly rate is the most you will be charged. I work hard to create and provide a variety of quality materials for learning. I include digital media, videos, recordings, Powerpoint presentations, as well as written material.
