My teaching method is based off of each individual student. Looking at a student's writing and their process is key to understanding what is best for them to move forward with their writing and English Skills.
Most of my students are college level, though I often work with high-school students also.
For writing students: I like to teach diagramming and grammar to provide the tools necessary to edit their own writing. I also teach with revision. Writing something and then returning to it to craft something better is one of the best skills you can acquire for writing in any field.
For Latin Students: We work in session with translations and lesson material that the students have questions about. I also help them work on study plans and techniques for memorization.
I am a Graduate student working my way toward my PhD. I have worked as a professional writing tutor and consultant as well as a Latin language tutor for the University of Central Florida and Rollins College for a cumulative 6 years of experience. I have taught hundreds of students during my time in University. My writing students walk away from lessons with grammar expertise, key strategies for writing any kind of paper, and understand of stylistic requirements for their assignments. My Latin students leave lessons with a greater understanding of the "whys" of Latin. Why do certain words get translated together? Why do constructions get translated colloquially instead of literally? What are key words you can find in a translation to help you figure out the context?
For Latin Students: 25$ per hour (this work tends to be much more intensive).
