About Jess
Hi, my name is Jess Laine. I have been a professional educator since 2001, specializing in mathematics at all levels. My primary focus areas include Elementary and Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, College Algebra, and ACT/SAT Math Test Preparation. Although these subjects are my primary focus I can tutor other math courses. I hold a B.S. in Education with a mathematics emphasis and an M.A.Ed. in K-12 Leadership and Curriculum Development. I am licensed in elementary education, secondary mathematics, and ESL, and I am currently completing my Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership, set to graduate in May 2025.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various educational settings, including public and private schools, in-person and online private tutoring, and online public and private school programs. I am also qualified to provide academic instruction to K-12 students working in the entertainment industry, such as TV, film, and live theater.
Mathematics has always been a passion of mine. My goal is to make math accessible and relatable to all students, no matter their current level of understanding. I strive to instill a love for math in my students by presenting concepts in ways they can connect with and appreciate.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy playing sports and expressing my creativity through music—I’ve been playing the piano since the age of four. I’m also an avid traveler, aiming to visit all seven continents. So far, I’ve explored six, and I’m planning to visit Antarctica in the near future to complete my goal.

Personalized education is the key to a student's success. In tutoring sessions your lessons will be personalized to exactly what you need. I will first lesson to the student's needs and questions as we move into the teaching portion of the lesson. I will guide the student through their questions explaining each concept clearly. The student will then practice with me on similar problems and by the end of the tutoring session will be working independently with a full understanding of the topic.
As an educator I want my students to have fun while learning and students will have the confidence at the end of each sessions that they fully understand the concepts.
If you are struggling in K-8 mathematics, Algebra 1 or 2, and/or Geometry these tutoring sessions are for you. They will be just for you and each step of the way will be tailored to you.
