Here is a sample lesson plan for a 6th grade math class:
Objective: To learn about ratios and proportions
Materials: Whiteboard, markers, worksheets
Introduction (10 minutes):
Review prior knowledge of fractions and equivalent fractions.
Introduce the concept of ratios and proportions and give real-life examples to help students understand the importance of the topic.
Direct Instruction (15 minutes):
Write a ratio in fraction form and explain how to simplify a ratio.
Discuss how ratios can be written as fractions or as a colon (:) separating two numbers.
Demonstrate how to use cross-multiplication to solve a proportion.
Guided Practice (15 minutes):
