I am a recent college graduate from Purdue University where I received my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education and minored in Computer Science. I have some experience teaching in High School settings and have previous experience as a tutor. I like to break down difficult concepts by asking "Why?", that way we avoid just memorizing equations. As someone who only just recently graduated, I know what I wish my teachers and professors had done for me, such as being more laid back and personal about understanding my needs as a student so that is what I aim to do for my own students and clients.
Currently, I am a substitute teacher and I do personal tutoring on the side as well. I have experience teaching when I was a student teacher for 4 months. During my student teaching, I taught 5 classes of about 20-25 students in each class, ranging from Algebra to Financial Algebra. While student teaching was very demanding, I was able to form relationships with some of my students and help a few that really struggled with math bring their grades up.
I believe that Dan is a trustworthy teacher because I have seen hands-on how much he cares and cherishes his moments with students. From in the class room, to tutoring, to even helping with younger family members, he always goes out of his way to make sure the student understands what is being taught and shows them a fun way of solving the problem. Dan also understands the importance of actually learning a subject rather than simply memorizing tactics.
