About Otis
I am currently a student at Brown University pursuing my bachelor's degree in mathematics. I have been tutoring students in math and science for two years now and I have a wide knowledge of many subject areas including Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Chemistry, AP Physics 1, and AP Macroeconomics. I have been in the top of my class for multiple of these subjects and have a deep understanding of them because of my continued use and interest in math and science.

About the lesson

At the beginning of each session I make a game plan. We will go over the concepts, problems, or types of problems that the student is struggling with and structure our session around these concepts. Then I use a three-step approach to create deep understanding. The first step is me doing the problem for the student, where I will teach them how to do it and any additional tips or tricks needed to reach the answer. The second step is doing the problem together, where I will stop the student after every step to make sure they are on the right track. The third and final step is the student doing the problem alone, and then I will check their answer at the end and we will review any mistakes that were made. I have used this method for two years now and I have seen it work over a variety of subjects.
