About Max
I am studying applied mathematics and computer science at UCLA. I also do research, and study mathematical epidemiology (spread of disease). I have tutored throughout the pandemic and genuinely love to provide that ‘aha’ moment for students struggling in math. I was once struggling a lot in math, and was fortunate enough to have a tutor show me the beauty and simplicity in mathematics. I aim to do the same for my students!

I place an emphasis on understanding underlying concepts. Lessons start with an overall generalization of the topic, followed by nuanced variations that build a coherent understanding of the concepts at play. Topics in calculus, such as integration, are explained visually rather than algebraically. Lessons are intended for those who want to understand the material and not blatantly follow a set of predetermined steps.
