About Holly
I fell in love with English because of an amazing teacher who was patient, encouraging, and made me believe I could be good at it. I know first-hand that when a subject feels overwhelming it's often the teaching - not the student - that makes people give up.
I want to be the tutor who makes English click and helps students rediscover confidence in their ability. I love reading and analysing texts, and my essays have been used as model examples by former teachers. During A Levels, I often acted in a teaching assistant role for GCSE students, and many preferred coming to me for help because I explained things in a clear, fun and relatable way, due to us being closer in age.
I'm friendly, patient, and from the same generation as my students - so lessons feel supportive, relaxed, and motivating. My goal is simple: to help students enjoy English and believe in themselves again.

As a younger tutor, I explain English in a way that feels relatable, clear, and pressure-free. I break texts and exam questions down into simple steps, use examples students actually understand, and focus on building confidence as well as grades, listening to what lesson structure the student prefers.
Lessons are interactive and engaging, using discussion, model answers, and exam-focused practice to make English feel manageable (and even enjoyable). I tailor each session to the student's needs - whether that's understanding content, improving essay structure, or boosting exam technique.
I achieved Grade 9 in both GCSE English Language and Literature (one mark off full marks in Literature) and a high B at A-Level English Literature, and I've previously helped tutor younger students with great results (my best being one student going from a 4 to a 7 in the end).
I mainly teach GCSE Edexcel, but I'm also happy to support younger years on any exam board who need extra help.
