About Katie

Hi, I’m Katie! I’m a professionally trained actor, writer and teacher based in London, with a BA in Musical Theatre and Writing for TV from Columbia College Chicago and an MFA in Classical Acting from LAMDA.

I’ve always loved the combination of language, storytelling and performance, and teaching allows me to share that enthusiasm with other people. I particularly enjoy helping students find confidence in their own voice, whether that means expressing themselves more clearly in English, preparing for a LAMDA exam, developing their performance skills, or simply discovering a love of theatre and literature.

Alongside my professional acting and directing work, I currently teach throughout the city of London!

As a tutor, I’m patient, encouraging and genuinely interested in getting to know the individual student. I believe lessons work best when students feel supported enough to take risks, ask questions and have a bit of fun along the way!

About the lesson

My lessons are relaxed, engaging and tailored to each student’s individual needs and goals. I like to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their confidence.

For English lessons, we can focus on grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, pronunciation, conversation and general communication skills. I adapt the content and pace depending on the student’s current level and what they would most like to improve. Lessons can combine structured exercises with discussion, games, creative activities and practical examples to keep learning varied and engaging.

For LAMDA lessons, sessions are practical and performance-focused. We can work on choosing and preparing material, characterisation, voice and diction, physicality, confidence and audition or examination technique. I use exercises drawn from my professional actor training to help students understand not only *what* they are performing, but *why* they are making particular choices.

I have experience working with children and young people across different ages and abilities, and I understand that every student learns differently. I aim to meet students where they are, while gradually encouraging them to become more independent, confident and curious learners. Whether preparing for an exam or simply developing communication and performance skills, I want students to leave each lesson feeling that they have learnt something useful and had fun doing it.
