About Michael

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have been on full-time higher education courses at different institutes for the last six years, building a substantial and professional knowledge of drama and the English language. I became interested in tutoring during my time in Oxford, where I trained as a actor. There was a foundation course at the school I attended and quite a few of the students asked if I would help them with their drama school audition speeches - needing help with one classical speech (usually Shakespeare) and a contemporary speech - I'm pleased to say that those students are now attending various drama schools around the country. This prompted me to start tutoring English as well and so I began to teach GCSEl English literature; something I have continued to do in London. I have also helped run drama workshops for students aged between 11 and 18 in various senior schools around Oxford.

Hello! My name is Michael, I am a tutor specialising in English and Drama. I am patient and calm but very passionate about my subjects. I aim to create lessons which are focused but enjoyable and encourage my student's curiosity in the subject.

I teach English (literature and language) and Drama (practical and theoretical).

Level 6 Diploma in Professional Acting from The Oxford School of Drama
BA HONS combined award in DRAMA and CREATIVE WRITING from Bath Spa University
A LEVEL: English, Drama and History, Psychology (AS Level)
11 GCSEs

- How much do you charge?

I charge £25 per hour. I do not charge for travel expenses unless my zone 1-3 travel card cannot cover it. For any prospective clients, I offer a 30 minute free consultation, so we can talk through your strengths and weaknesses in the subject, how to make the most of our sessions and, of course, to make sure you're happy with me being your tutor before we get started!).

- Where do you teach?

I am based in Forest Hill but i'm happy to travel anywhere in zones 1-3 throughout London as long as it takes no more than about 45 minutes to get to. We can always work something out though - I've found that many libraries have private rooms that can be used for tutoring, so we may be able to find one in a library which is easy for us both to get to.

- When are you available?

I am available every weekday and most weekends. I sometimes get asked at very short notice to go for auditions but those auditions can usually be moved around to suit my schedule. Also, if we were to establish a routine, I could tell me agent not to book auditions for those times. In other words: it shouldn't be a problem!

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach from age 11 upwards.
