About Elli

Hello! My name is Elli, and I am a passionate and dedicated Modern Greek teacher with a genuine love for the Greek language, culture and education.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in History and Archaeology, a second Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education, and a Master’s degree in Classics. My studies have given me a strong academic background in language, literature, history and education, while my training in Primary Education has helped me develop a student-centred approach to teaching and understand the different ways in which children and adults learn.

I have been teaching Modern Greek since 2015, working with students of different ages, backgrounds and levels. I currently teach Modern Greek at a Greek school in Birmingham, alongside my private online teaching.

One of the things I particularly enjoy about teaching is creating my own teaching materials, tailored to the needs and level of each student. I prepare personalised activities, exercises and resources to make lessons engaging, effective and relevant to each learner. This allows me to adapt the content and pace of our lessons rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach.

For me, teaching Greek is about much more than grammar and vocabulary. It is about helping students communicate confidently, connect with Greek language and culture, and enjoy the learning process.

I love creating a friendly, supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and gradually building their confidence. Seeing a student make progress and become more confident in using Greek is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a teacher.

I would love to share my knowledge, experience and love for the Greek language with you and support you throughout your learning journey!

About the lesson

I believe that every student is different, and that learning a language should be an enjoyable and rewarding experience. My approach is friendly, patient and fully personalised, with each lesson adapted to the student’s level, needs, interests and goals.

Whether you are starting Greek from scratch, looking to improve your speaking and communication skills, preparing for GCSE or Ellinomatheia, or simply wanting to reconnect with your Greek language and heritage, I will make sure that our lessons are tailored specifically to you.

I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and building their confidence. I believe that progress comes not only from learning grammar and vocabulary, but also from enjoying the language and feeling motivated to use it.

My goal is for every student to finish each lesson feeling that they have learnt something new, made progress and, most importantly, enjoyed the experience of learning Greek.
