I’ve had the great honor of knowing Robin for nearly fourteen years now, and the first four of those I was privileged enough to have Robin as one of my English teachers in high school. Robin excelled at teaching, relating course materials to everyday life and engaging her students by providing valuable insight to the literature we read and helping us to apply the life lessons of the material to our own lives. Robin’s creative projects and meaningful assessments were effective and contemporary, and I never felt as if I were doing assignments for her class simply because I had to do them. Robin was not just another English teacher assigning arbitrary projects; what we completed as students had meaning, value, and helped to better our portfolios as students and enlightened thinkers.
After graduating from high school and attending the college of my dreams (for which Robin wrote me an exceptional letter of recommendation), we stayed in touch, and I began to consider Robin a mentor, not just my former teacher. Robin had provided me so many opportunities in high school, from helping me meet famous authors through special programs she helped organize to offering me advice when I was unsure of how to navigate tempestuous waters, and I admired how Robin adhered to her morals. I realized Robin had become one of my biggest inspirations, and I aspired to influence those around me in as positive a way as Robin has influenced me.
Robin always encouraged me to pursue my dreams of becoming a writer, and I did just that in college and after graduation. A few years later, I found myself going back to school to become a teacher, and not long after that, when Robin retired from teaching, I wound up taking her place at my old high school. We went full circle. I honestly cannot say or write that I replaced Robin at her job, because Robin is truly irreplaceable. The life lessons, the candor, the compassion, and the knowledge she imparts on her students is boundless. Any student would be fortunate to have a teacher like Robin, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Robin’s innovation, compassion, and endless wisdom are just a few of the qualities that make her a truly exceptional educator.

Robin was my English teacher in 1994 and writing teacher in 1995. Here we are in 2021 and I can say after working for the President of BBC America and BBC Worldwide and the Chief Technology officer of CBS that Robin has been a strong supporter mentor and friend of mine. I would think that any university or institution would have to be able to make it their first thing on the agenda to hire Robin. Where ever she goes Robin adds
