About Samantha

I am a creative writer in multiple genres but have published three novels as of this posting in the Speculative Fiction genre. I have been writing novel-length work since 1999 and have developed a passion for storytelling with a particular focus on strong character arcs and engaging plots.

I have recently decided to pursue a degree in teaching and decided that helping other aspiring authors whether they are young or adults is something I want to incorporate into my portfolio. I love to work with creative people and collaborate when possible. Writing is just as much an artform as it is technical skill. I firmly believe that anyone can write a book if they have the will and an idea to develop.

About the lesson

I can tailor classes for all levels of experience. From structured lessons in various topics with clear practice exercises with feedback to one on one personal coaching that works for a single project or working through the building of a career, it is possible to effectively reach a wide range of learning styles. I am focused on positive feedback with specific feedback to help you think and grow as a writer.

Group classes are available and recommended for groups of young aspiring authors. These will be more structured with assignments and general feedback on those assignments much like you'd see in a formal classroom. They will include group discussions and encourage collaboration as well as individual work. These classes can be structured in a way that would benefit homeschooling families offering a virtual classroom environment that would provide a fun English Language curriculum in a virtual or in-person social setting.

Individual classes are more tailored to the needs of the writer. They can be more like a coaching service as opposed to a traditional class or a hybrid depending on the learner and their response to instruction. This style of learning would also include developmental editing for the project with an emphasis on explanations to help you learn how to better develop the idea from start to finish. Depending on location these sessions can be done in-person or virtually. There is an emphasis on creating a quality final product while also being an encourager through the process. This often cultivates long-term professional relationships as well.

Details

Pricing is hourly with discounts for purchasing multiple hour bundles. It is recommended that you purchase bundles as a single hour lesson is more of a consultation that will enable me to formulate a plan for your needs. Fees include travel to meet in Longview or Tyler, Texas and other costs for travel may be required for in-person meetings outside that area. Outside that area virtual meetings via Google Hangouts, Zoom, Skype, or phone are required.
To ensure safety, initial meetings and consultations will be conducted either in local public spaces like a library, coffee shop or by virtual methods as mentioned above.
