About Hannah
My name is Hannah and I am originally from Lexington, Kentucky. I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee after meeting my husband, over three years ago. I work as a nurse in the healthcare field and am working on returning to school for an advancement in my education. I see patients in my practice daily whose first language is not English, or do not understand at all. I am passionate about making sure there is equality in these folks' care. I have seen firsthand the difficulties some of my patients have experienced from not knowing English. Their day-to-day tasks can become difficult and a struggle when you do not understand the language. I hope our lighthearted conversations give you more confidence in speaking English and the opportunity to grow and better understand English. I look forward to meeting with you.

I like to take a laid back approach to lessons. This gives me the chance to see what parts you need the most help with and your best learning styles. I want to adapt to the style of learning you require to build knowledge.
For learning English, I take a conversational approach to teaching. I will use a selected topic for the week and ask easy to moderate questions about it. I will also ask you to think of a question for that topic and practice asking in English. This would be done through conversation, practicing using English. After a few weeks of this, we will transition to Articles. Myself or student will pick out an English written (class appropriate) article to read before secession. We will then discuss the article and I will have conversation based questions for student regarding the reading. I will then ask student to come up with questions for article. This would practice reading English, Speaking English, and comprehension of English.
