About Julie

Since graduating from a Russell Group university with a BA in English Literature in 2022, I have taught English both in academies and online. I have always been passionate about English and thoroughly enjoyed my own studies, which inspired me to continue working in education.

I achieved A* grades in both English GCSE and A Level, and I now take great pleasure in helping students build their confidence and achieve their academic goals. I am familiar with a range of UK exam boards and have studied the key set texts taught in British schools.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, allowing me to focus on their specific strengths, weaknesses and goals. I aim to provide the personalised support and guidance that can be difficult to achieve in a traditional classroom, helping every student reach their full potential.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s course, exam board and individual needs.

English Language: I focus on helping students understand exactly what is expected of them in the exam. We familiarise ourselves with the exam structure and assessment criteria, looking closely at what examiners are looking for in each question. We work on paragraph and essay structures, developing clear techniques that students can practise independently between lessons. I then review their work and use our lessons to provide targeted feedback, address weaknesses and improve their exam technique.

English Literature: Lessons are tailored to the student’s exam board and set texts. We practise analysing extracts, developing strong analytical responses and exploring key themes, characters and literary techniques. I also help students curate clear, effective revision materials that they can use throughout their exam preparation.
