About Lucas
I currently teach English as a Second Language in an urban Massachusetts public school. I have been teaching in urban public schools for 5 years. I have been teaching/working with students of all ages and backgrounds for over 8 years. My students have produced tremendous amounts of academic growth. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and a dual master's degree in Education/English as a second language. In my free time, I am a performing musician.

I choose to teach reading, writing, and English language skills through engaging, hands-on learning. I utilize both self-created curriculum, as well as curriculum from popular curriculum companies. I love to inject real-world scenarios into my teaching. I want learning to feel applicable to my students' everyday lives. I use multiple forms of media to teach (books, short stories, articles, videos, etc.) I use assessments to inform how and what I teach my students. I specialize in students in elementary and middle school students who are below grade level in their reading/writing abilities.
