About Albert

My background in education dates back to 1996. I first began teaching as a Broad Field Social Studies instructor in grades 6th through 12th. I also enjoyed coaching Football, Wrestling, and Track while working to educate and inspire my students. I have been blessed to work with thousands of students over the years. I have a very diverse background in education which includes serving as a Parental Involvement Specialist, Graduation Coach and as a Director of Education for Sylvan Learning Centers. Around 10 years ago, my Principal observed me tutoring some of my football players in Algebra and Geometry. She told me that she loved the way I explained the advanced concepts in such a simple and easy to understand way. The following day she called me to her office and asked me to gain a Mathmatics Certification and start teaching math classes. I did as she asked and now I am teaching Pre Algebra, Algebra I and II, Geometry and Pre Calculus. I truly enjoy helping students to understand the language of Mathematics. Most of all, I enjoy the process of helping students become proficient and confident learners.

About the lesson

My approach to teaching math is very simple. Because of the fact that most students don't feel confident about their math skills, the develope a fear and a dislike for the subject. I work to remove the fear and dislike from my students by showing them how simple most of it is. All students can achieve some level of success in any subject if it is explained to them well. Most people that are good mathematicians are not as well-versed with communication. My background in Social Studies as well as my time served as a Graduation Coach has assisted me in learning how to analyze my students and provide them with the kind of academic support that best fits their learning styles. I have often found that my students transform from disliking math to really enjoying it.
