About Camille

I have extensive experience with both academic and creative writing, particularly nonfiction and poetry, having been a university student since age 15. I'm currently a starting student at the University of Cambridge, hold a degree from The George Washington University, and have received national recognition for my own essay writing.

That background has shaped my understanding of what strong writing actually requires, and how to guide students there with patience and precision. I show up prepared for every lesson and give feedback that's honest, specific, and genuinely useful (which is to say the kind of feedback I myself want). Whether you're hoping to follow a similar path or forge a completely different one, I'm excited to help you get there. Looking forward to connecting!

About the lesson

I believe successful writing stems from successful reading. This means that I focus on helping students understand the text deeply, build a clear argument, and revise with intention. Rather than giving students a formula, we will work together to think critically, covering both mechanics (grammar, structure, clarity) and content (whether that be your voice, your argument, or a developing style).

I really do teach to all levels! I'm happy to provide online lessons for middle and high school students (essay writing, literary analysis, AP/IB/A-Level exam prep), university students (argumentative writing, literary criticism, research papers), and adult learners strengthening academic or creative writing. I'm also happy to help with college application essays and personal statements, particularly for international students who are looking for a guide.

A typical online lesson would look like this:

- Check-in (5 min): Review progress and questions from independent work
- Focus topic (15–20 min): Close reading, prompt breakdown, or a mini-lesson on a specific skill
- Applied practice (20–25 min): Student writes or revises live via shared document, with real-time guidance
- Feedback (10 min): Specific, actionable notes and a clear task before next session

Every lesson is tailored to the student and what they are looking for! That might mean reading a literary text closely together, or it might just be brainstorming jumping-off points for the Common App.
