About Maria
I am very passionate about language as a way to connect with people from all over the world and find compassion and common ground. My priority is to create a safe space where every student can come at the level they are with no judgment. The sessions are meant to be comfortable and relaxed (which is the best way to learn!) and talking about a wide variety of topics to expand practical vocabulary and fluency. I have over one year of experience teaching ESL online one-on-one. I have a 170 hour TEFL Certification through ITA, along with two specialty course certifications in Tutoring and Teaching English online.

Some advantages of my English sessions is that you will be learning and improving fluency in spoken English, without it feeling like a traditional class in school. I heavily focus on building confidence and fluency through conversation. My method of correction is, when a student says a sentence incorrectly, I simply repeat it back correctly and we move on with the conversation. This is a non-judgemental space. I have learned Spanish and French myself as my second and third languages, so I am empathetic and I understand the language-learning process experientially. Having learned multiple foreign languages myself is something that sets me apart from other English tutors who do not have the experience learning another language. My target audience are adults who are wanting to improve their skills in spoken English with a native English speaker.
