About Lauren

I believe that learning works best when students feel confident, supported, and respected. I create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. My background as a Speech-Language Pathologist means I bring clinical-level expertise, ethical standards, and evidence-based practice into every tutoring session.

About the lesson

My teaching is language-based, student-centered, and highly individualized. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I use evidence-based strategies that focus on how language is actually processed and learned. I integrate explicit instruction in vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, writing structure, and spoken language. I also use multi-sensory techniques, scaffolding, and clear models so students can see, hear, and practice skills in meaningful ways. My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to build lasting language skills and confidence. A typical lesson plan may look like: Check-in & Review, Target Skill Instruction/Direct teaching of a specific area, Guided Practice, Independent Practice, Wrap-Up & Strategy Transfer.

What makes me unique is my background as a Speech-Language Pathologist. I don’t just tutor English, I understand how language, literacy, and communication develop. This allows me to:
• Identify underlying language weaknesses that affect reading and writing
• Break down complex skills into clear, manageable steps
• Teach students how to think about language, not just memorize rules
• Support students with learning differences, language delays, ADHD, or ESL needs
• Build both academic skills and confidence in communication

My tutoring is ideal for:
• Elementary, middle, and high school students
• College students needing support with writing and comprehension
• ESL / ELL learners building English proficiency
• Students with reading, writing, or language-based learning difficulties
