About Holly
I have a Bachelor's degree (First Class) and Master's degree (Distinction) in American Studies and I am looking to help out anyone wanting to know more about American Studies, or supplement their studies in humanities subjects such as American Studies, History, English Literature, and Film Studies. I am a friendly, hard-working and adaptable person, excited to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with others. As an American Studies and Study Abroad ambassador at university, I am comfortable teaching people of different ages about various aspects of humanities, owing largely to my four-year degree in a multidisciplinary subject. I have lots of experience in seminars and lectures, as well as discussing and debating different subjects and texts. I have received commendations for my professionalism, enthusiasm and abilities from university faculty members for my teaching and academic work. I have also been awarded scholarships from my university for exemplary academic performance.

I feel that a one-on-one approach to teaching and learning can be really helpful for students as you can get detailed and personalised feedback from the tutor on your progress, where you are doing well, and where you can hope to improve, all of which I hope to provide during our sessions. Together, we can come up with a lesson plan that suits your needs, ability level, and what you would like to gain from the session(s). I will tailor my knowledge and style to what you would like to learn and how you learn best. Each session will be no more than an hour so we can really focus, most likely with a short break halfway through to ensure comfort for us both. I have experience giving short lectures, a method I am happy to use, or we can use a more seminar-like approach where I ask questions and we discuss the subject in detail together. I am very adaptable when it comes to style of lesson so whichever works best for you we can try out! Generally, my lessons will cater more towards those 14 years old and above, or those undertaking their GCSEs, A-levels or Undergraduate degree. Please let me know what specific area you want to focus on and I can figure out whether I can help you!
