About Mara

Does technology sometimes make you feel frustrated, or worried about pressing the wrong button? You're not alone, and it's never too late to learn.

I'm a patient, friendly technology tutor with a background in software development and more than 10 years of teaching experience. I work with seniors who want to feel calm and confident using their phone, tablet, or computer, whether that's staying in touch with family, staying safe from scams, or handling everyday tasks online.

I know technology can feel overwhelming, so I explain everything in plain language, one step at a time. We go at your pace, repeat things as often as you need, and no question is ever too small.

My goal is simple: that you leave each lesson feeling more independent and less dependent on others for help.

About the lesson

Learn Computer Skills with Patient, Personalised Online Lessons

My goal is to make technology feel simple, useful, and less overwhelming. I offer patient, step-by-step online computer lessons for seniors, adults, and beginners. No stress, no technical jargon – just practical guidance at your own pace.

Whether you want to learn basic computer skills, become more confident using Windows or Mac, manage your files, send emails and attachments, or make better use of everyday technology, I'll help you develop the skills you need.

What You Can Learn

- Basic Computer Skills: Using your computer, navigating the desktop, managing files and folders, and installing applications.
- Windows & Mac: Understanding your operating system, settings, updates, and everyday functions.
- Email & Internet: Gmail, Outlook, browsing, online searches, attachments, and internet safety.
- Microsoft Office & Google Workspace: Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Drive, and organising your documents.
- Video Calls & Communication: Zoom, Google Meet, and staying connected with family and friends.
- Photos & Cloud Storage: Organising photos, iCloud, Google Drive, and managing digital files.
- Everyday AI Skills: Learning how to use ChatGPT and other AI tools for writing, research, planning, and everyday tasks.

My Teaching Method

Every lesson is personalised to your needs, experience, and learning pace. I explain everything in plain English or Spanish, using screen sharing and practical demonstrations so you can follow along and practise directly on your own computer.

You are always welcome to ask questions, repeat exercises, and revisit previous topics. There is no pressure to learn quickly.

What to Expect in Each Lesson

- A quick review of what we covered previously.
- Hands-on practice using your own computer.
- Help with real-life tasks and everyday technology challenges.
- Plenty of time for questions and repetition.
- Optional simple exercises to practise between lessons.

I can also prepare easy-to-follow visual guides so you have something to refer to after each session.

Who Are These Lessons For?

My lessons are ideal for seniors, adults returning to technology, and complete beginners who want to become more independent and confident using their devices.

You don't need previous experience or advanced computer skills. We start with what you already know and build from there.

Let's make technology easier, one step at a time!

Excellent! Patience! I was not remembering well and became flustered by the time pressure. I need to define smaller goals for each session and prepare more broadly for them. Perhaps I will need someone with me to get me out of trouble when I mistakenly break connections with the tutor. Let’s try again, 8:30 next Monday and I will try to write you some memos regarding our agenda. Please thank Mara for her patience!

Perfect! Mara is very patient and very knowledgeable on the Mac platform that I happen to be using. I’m in no way techie when it comes to computers and I made some mistakes with my storage resources on my laptop and Mara is helping me to get past that and get back on track on a scale of one to 10 to judge her services. I would give her a 12 she’s amazing and I’m looking forward to the next appointment with her because in just a few minutes we covered so much in such a quick and fast time thank you Mara keep up the good work. I appreciate all your knowledge and expertise.

Mara is amazing teacher! I am so happy I found her for my kids! At first my daughter was studying with her and later my son. My kids are very different, but Mara easily found the way to make them feel comfortable, free to speak with her, she managed to make them be really interested and excited in things they were learning, so they were waiting every next class! She is just the perfect tescher every parent wants to find for their kid!

Mara has been an incredible teacher for both of my children. She quickly understood their different personalities and learning styles, and adapted her lessons to each of them. They not only learn, they enjoy learning with her. It's rare to find a teacher who combines warmth, structure, and results like she does.
