About Tom
I'm Tom, I have a 7 year old daughter and a 5 year old son, to which both are now thriving in their school environments through learning and developing their English language through reading and leading conversations.
I want to teach English because I genuinely enjoy helping people grow in confidence and discover what they are capable of.
For me, English is much more than just a language. It can open doors to education, travel, employment, friendships and new experiences. Being able to communicate with others can have a huge impact on someone's life, and I would feel privileged to play a small part in that journey.
I also love the idea of meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds and learning from them as much as they learn from me. I don't see teaching as simply standing in front of someone and giving them information. I see it as building a connection, understanding what each person needs and encouraging them to keep going when something feels difficult.

I would aim to create a relaxed, friendly and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes. I believe mistakes are an important part of learning, so I would never make a student feel embarrassed or judged.
Before starting, I would find out the student's current ability, goals, interests and areas they struggle with. I could then tailor each lesson specifically to them rather than using the same approach for everyone.
For example:
Beginners: Build confidence with everyday vocabulary, pronunciation and basic conversation.
Intermediate learners: Improve speaking fluency, grammar and understanding of natural English.
Advanced learners: Focus on pronunciation, more sophisticated vocabulary, professional communication and becoming more natural when speaking.
