I believe in helping each student uncover the talented writer within themselves and I believe that starts with meeting every student where they are at. Whether a seasoned creative writer, or a student who detests essay writing, we can work together to achieve their goals while also giving them the tools to succeed long term. I believe in being dynamic, understanding and disciplined, while also having fun. Additionally, I focus on nurturing student's passions and interests to help them discover what great writing and reading skills can do in all areas of their life, not just for getting an A+ on that pesky English paper.
I have an English degree, cum laude, from Carleton College, as well as my college's top writing award and creative work published in literary journals. I have mentorship and tutoring experience in both my professional and academic life, whether it was my role as "lead mentor" in my division at Epic Systems, or in my year volunteering as an art teacher in the South Pacific. Good writing is a skill that has helped in me in all areas of my life, from Healthcare IT to helping polish my younger brother's college essays. I am an advocate that being a good writer and reader is an essential skill, no matter interests and goals.

Perfect! Jane is great and a very patient tutor! My child liked her instantly and enjoyed her first lesson :-)
Jane worked with my high school senior to revise his personal statement for his college applications. She was a wonderful guide who helped him strengthen his own voice and vision, giving him confidence in his writing. She also offered concrete suggestions to elevate his language to a college level essay.
Jane and I worked on many papers and projects together. She is professional, diligent, organized, and incredibly warm and supportive. She is highly knowledgeable and has a mastery of English, both spoken and written. Couldn't recommend more!
Jane and I worked together in the Student Engagement Office at Carleton. In addition to being hardworking and organized, she is always thoughtful and enthusiastic about her work. She'll not only teach you grammar and semantics, but also how to best express yourself.
