About Helene
After many years of administering educational programs and working with data and research, I started teaching ESL at a community college and love my job. Making the connection with students and experiencing the extremely important Aha moments is my passion. I am from New York but have lived in Iowa for a long time. I have a fiancé, three adult children, and five grandchildren. I love to write and to travel to warm climates, especially during an Iowa winter.

I use a variety of strategies to support student learning while building confidence and a love for learning. These strategies include hands on learning, technology, AI, and creative curriculum building. I assess the learning styles of every student and focus my teaching on the individual student needs. Through reading, writing, listening and speaking, every student can and will learn.
