About Sophyia

I can offer a strong combination of communication, leadership and academic skills that will support students. I have just finished studying for my Spanish, Psychology and Chemistry A-levels and am therefore confident to teach other students. I have experience mentoring and tutoring younger students in my school and through this experience I have learnt to adapt my teaching styles to different students to help them understand concepts they find challenging to grasp. I am patient and reliable and therefore create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and trying new ideas. My goal is to help students grow academically and personally, building their confidence step by step until they feel proud of what they achieve.

About the lesson

Education is paramount for a student’s intellectual development and so I am eager to help younger students form a strong foundation to their educational journey. I am keen to see every child reach their full potential by helping to nurture talent and motivate those who lack confidence. Having just finished my Spanish, Psychology and Chemistry A-levels, I have experience mentoring and tutoring younger students in my school and through this experience I have learnt to adapt my teaching styles to different students to help them understand concepts they find challenging to grasp.
I take a supportive, structured and student centred approach to English tutoring. I begin by checking a student’s understanding through simple questions, then break tasks into smaller, manageable steps. I model the first step, guide them through the next and gradually encourage independence. My communication style is clear and encouraging to help students feel comfortable expressing their ideas and asking questions.
I adapt my teaching to each learner — some need visual examples, others benefit from step by step modelling, and some respond best to discussion. I use a positive environment to build confidence, especially when students find English challenging.
My lessons are 1 hour long and are suitable for students up to year 6 who want to improve:
• Reading comprehension
• Essay writing
• Literary analysis
• Grammar and clarity
• Confidence in English
