About William

Hi, I'm William — a tutor in Seymour, CT with a master's in education and 15 years of teaching experience. I taught elementary students in Waterbury Public Schools for four years, and I currently work as a paraprofessional, supporting elementary children in the classroom every school day — so I know how kids this age learn, where they get stuck, and how school expectations actually look from the inside.
Through William Parker Music I also teach private music lessons, and my specialty across everything I teach is adapting the approach to the learner. Parents tell me the difference is patience: your child will never be rushed, embarrassed, or left behind in a session with me — just steadily moved forward.

Every child learns differently, so tutoring starts with where your child actually is — not where a workbook says they should be. In reading, we build the foundations step by step: letter sounds and phonics for early readers, fluency and sight words as they grow, and comprehension — really understanding the story — all along the way. In math, we work on number sense, addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts, place value, and word problems, using simple strategies your child can reuse on homework and tests.
Sessions are patient, structured, and encouraging, with small wins in every lesson. I also support homework, so school assignments stop being a nightly battle. As someone experienced with diverse learners — including students with IEPs — I adjust pacing and approach to the child in front of me. Grades K-5 only, so your child gets a tutor who knows exactly this age.
