About Joanne
Hello, I’m Joanne, a dedicated, PGCE-qualified teacher with more than 18 years of classroom experience in British international schools. I also hold a CELTA qualification and have 11 years of experience teaching English, including EAL learners, young learners and students preparing for Cambridge examinations and IELTS.
Throughout my career, I have taught children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, helping them become confident, independent learners. I understand that every student progresses differently, so I provide patient, well-structured and personalised lessons in a welcoming environment.
I am professional, reliable and committed to maintaining high standards. Parents and students can expect thoughtful preparation, clear communication, constructive feedback and lessons designed to achieve measurable progress. Hello, I’m Joanne, a PGCE-qualified teacher with more than 18 years of experience in British international primary schools and 11 years of English-language teaching experience.
My lessons are friendly, engaging and carefully adapted to each learner’s ability, interests and goals. I use clear explanations, modelling, guided practice, questioning and positive feedback to build understanding and confidence. Where appropriate, I incorporate games, discussion, reading comprehension, creative writing and exam-style activities. I also use Read Write Inc. techniques to support younger learners with phonics, reading and spelling.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although shorter sessions may be more suitable for younger children. I teach English and humanities to primary and lower-secondary learners, including pupils preparing for SATs and 11+ examinations. With extensive experience supporting children who speak English as an additional language, I provide patient, inclusive tuition that helps every learner make progress and enjoy learning.
