About Amirhossein

Hi! I'm Amir, a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics with an MA in TEFL and more than five years of experience teaching English. My academic background and professional teaching experience have given me a strong understanding of both the English language and how students learn it most effectively.

I believe that effective teaching starts with understanding the individual student. Whether you are learning English for everyday communication, academic purposes, professional development, or preparing for an important exam, I take the time to understand your goals and adapt our lessons accordingly.

As a researcher and university-level academic, I also have extensive experience working with academic English, research writing, literature reviews, and theses and dissertations. I can therefore support students who need not only to improve their English, but also to communicate their academic ideas clearly, accurately, and professionally.

My aim is to create a supportive and respectful learning environment where you can ask questions freely, make mistakes without pressure, and see tangible progress over time. I provide clear explanations, constructive feedback, and personalized guidance so that every lesson has a clear purpose.

About the lesson

**My teaching methods and techniques**

I combine communicative language teaching with task-based activities, authentic materials, guided practice, and individualized feedback. Depending on the learner’s needs, I incorporate speaking activities, discussions, reading and listening tasks, vocabulary development, grammar instruction, pronunciation practice, and academic writing. I also use diagnostic assessment to identify areas for improvement and continuously adapt lessons according to the student’s progress.

**A typical lesson**

A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous material and a warm-up designed to activate relevant vocabulary or knowledge. We then introduce and practice the main language point or skill through carefully structured activities. The lesson may then move toward more independent communication through discussion, problem-solving, academic tasks, or writing practice. Finally, I provide individualized feedback, clarify recurring difficulties, and identify specific areas to work on before the next lesson.

**Thesis and dissertation support**

As a PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics, I can also support university students with their theses, dissertations, and academic research projects. I can help students understand academic literature, refine research questions, develop a clear research structure, improve academic English, organize arguments, revise paragraphs, and strengthen coherence and cohesion. I can also provide guidance on research methodology, literature reviews, academic writing, referencing, and presenting research findings.

My role is to **guide and support students throughout the research and writing process**, helping them develop their own work rather than writing a thesis or dissertation for them. Whether you are at the early stages of choosing a topic or are struggling to revise and polish an existing chapter, I can provide structured, constructive feedback tailored to your project.

My background combines extensive teaching experience with advanced academic training in Applied Linguistics. This allows me to approach language learning from both a practical teaching perspective and a research-informed perspective. I do not believe that one teaching method works equally well for everyone, so I personalize my lessons rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all curriculum.
