About Jillian
I am a 32-year-old PhD candidate at Northwestern University from Chicago, IL who is currently conducting research and writing my dissertation on Russian intellectual history. I have been affiliated with a university for my entire adult life, having gotten a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Slavic studies. I absolutely love learning and reading and would like to pass this on to young minds.

I am a patient and diligent teacher who is particularly skilled at teaching critical thinking and helping students improve their reading and writing. I have experience teaching all ages but chiefly have worked at the college level. I am passionate about literature and the history of ideas but also can drill grammar and language exercises. I employ the Socratic method of teaching, with a focus on fostering a welcoming environment for discussion and explanation.
