About Sarah
Many of my students have told me that they hated English classes or academic writing before taking my class because so much of it seems subjective and honestly useless in a professional setting. I believe that good writing and reading do not have to be either of these things; the ability to understand and craft a compelling argument will serve you well in any profession, and these are skills that can be taught and practiced like any other trade or aptitude. I can teach you a few little tricks to immediately improve your writing, but I hope to do a bit more than that by revealing some of the ways and reasons why teachers, professors, and application or grant committees evaluate writing for certain criteria. I know that it is cheesy, but I really love teaching these skills, and I think that they are important for everyone to know, and I hope that passion comes through in my lessons :)

I am a PhD candidate at Queen's University with a specialization in North American literature. I have two years of experience teaching English online at the university level and I am happy to offer help with everything from essay writing skills to resume or cover letter editing. I believe that writing and reading are skills that can be practiced like any other academic skill, and I can offer either more formal lecture-style lessons on writing skills and most canonical English texts, or one-off editing workshops and consultation for single assignments or grant or job applications. My wide array of writing and teaching experience allows me to tailor my lessons to your needs, please feel free to reach out and ask if you are looking for something specific. I want you to feel comfortable and supported above all else.
