About Chelsea
Hi, I’m Chelsea! I have a PhD in English with a concentration in Creative Writing and over six years of experience teaching writing and literature at the college level. I’ve worked with students from many different backgrounds, helping them develop stronger writing skills, clearer arguments, and more confidence in their ideas.
In addition to teaching, I’ve worked as a writing consultant in a university writing center, where I helped students at all stages of the writing process—from brainstorming and outlining to revising and polishing final drafts. My own creative work has also been published in literary magazines.
I’m passionate about helping students feel more confident and capable in their writing. My goal is to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students can improve their skills while learning strategies that will help them succeed in school and beyond.

My approach to tutoring focuses on clarity, encouragement, and practical strategies students can use immediately. I have a PhD in English and over six years of experience teaching writing and literature at the college level, so I understand both the academic expectations students face and the challenges that come with writing.
My teaching method is collaborative and student-centered. Rather than simply correcting writing, I work with students to understand why certain choices strengthen an argument, improve clarity, or deepen analysis. I guide students through brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and revising so they develop skills they can use independently.
A typical lesson starts with discussing the student’s assignment or goals. From there, we might review a draft together, develop a thesis, organize ideas, or practice revision strategies. I also help students learn techniques for overcoming writer’s block, structuring essays, and analyzing literature.
What sets me apart is my experience as both a college instructor and a creative writer. I’ve worked with many different types of learners and know how to break down complex ideas in ways that make writing feel more manageable.
My lessons are ideal for high school students, college students, and adult learners who want help with essays, literary analysis, creative writing, college application writing, or building overall confidence in writing.
