About Malak
I am currently working towards my PhD in English at the University of Cambridge. My research focuses on the publication and circulation histories of political-prison narratives from roughly 1970s to present day. Prior to the PhD, I completed my master's (MSt in World Literatures - Distinction) and undergraduate degree (BA in English Language and Literature - First Class) at the University of Oxford. I completed A Levels in English Literature (A*), Mathematics (A*) and History (A), as well as 11 A*s at GCSE. My love of literature and teaching extends well beyond my studies; I am an avid reader in my spare time, and enjoy learning from students and young people's insights in the process of helping them to reach their full academic potential.

My teaching approach is tailored to meet individual student needs, whether that be strengthening general literacy and reading skills, or focused exam preparation. I have experience supervising at undergraduate level, in addition to verbal/non-verbal reasoning; GCSE English Language and Literature; mentoring and coaching school students in study skills more broadly. I am also open to supporting students through the university application process, offering guidance on personal statement and CV writing. I look forward to encouraging tutees to see the value and joy in studying literature and history by working with texts that are both assigned in their relevant curriculum beyond, as I strongly believe the best way to learn is by reading and thinking about texts that spark enjoyment in each student!
