About Estrella
Are you a returning learner looking to pick up where you left off years ago? My background as a Peabody graduate informs how I approach the instrument for 481 students I have taught over 13 years. Piano study functions as a reflection of vocal phrasing, and I bring that perspective to every single lesson.
My training emphasizes classical repertoire, but I love working on jazz improvisation and sight transposition for variety. It is common for students to struggle with pedaling technique or dynamics, so we break these down into manageable parts. I enjoy watching a complete beginner develop hand independence or helping an advanced player refine their expression.
Teaching is a conversation between the page and the player, and I aim to keep the dialogue active. Having taught 481 students, I know how to navigate the hurdles of grade exam prep like ABRSM or Trinity. Ear training is another essential piece of the puzzle I integrate for everyone.
