About Savannah
Kia ora! My name is Savannah, and I am a passionate, qualified ESOL educator dedicated to helping young Tamariki find their voice and build absolute confidence in their English language.
As a qualified New Entrant teacher right here in Whangarei and a TEFL certified language specialist, my career is built around the magical years of early childhood and primary development. I understand exactly how young minds acquire a second language, how they process new words, and—importantly—how to keep them smiling and highly engaged while they do it!
Why I Am Passionate About Teaching ESOL?
I choose to teach English to speakers of other languages because communication is the ultimate key to a child's confidence, happiness, and future success.
Transitioning into an English-speaking environment or starting school can feel incredibly overwhelming for a young child. My goal is to make English feel less like a daunting school subject and more like an exciting, joyful adventure.
I love witnessing the "lightbulb" moments - There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a child's face light up when a tricky letter sound, a new vocabulary word, or a sentence structure finally clicks.
I believe in safe, stress-free learning - I provide a warm, patient, and playful space where Tamariki feels brave enough to try new words, make mistakes, and celebrate their progress without any pressure.
I blend early childhood play with language science - By combining my New Entrant classroom experience with professional TEFL strategies, I use bright visuals, songs, interactive games, and storytelling to make language acquisition natural and fun from day one.
Whether we are singing phonics songs together online or exploring books face-to-face, I cannot wait to support your child on their literacy and language journey!

My personal approach to tutoring is simple: make it personal, make it safe, make it fun. My lessons will be play-based and confidence-first. We celebrate small wins. Mistakes= learning.
I don't do worksheets for 1 hour. We learn through games, stories and movement. As a New Entrant teacher, I know 4–8-year-olds learn best when they feel safe and excited.
What makes me different:
1) Tailored: No copy-paste lessons. Lesson 1 is all about your goals.
2) Confidence first: We build confidence before we build perfect grammar.
3) Kind+ Consistent: I'll cheer you on and keep you motivated.
For My Little Learners (Ages 3-5)
At this golden age, language is learned through play and movement. To match their shorter attention spans, these fast-paced, interactive sessions include:
1) Playful Phonics: Learning letter sounds through catchy songs, rhymes and physical actions.
2) Vocabulary Building: Using colorful physical props, puppets and interactive digital flashcards.
3) Confident Speaking: Fun conversational games that gently encourage toddlers to speak in full sentences.
For School-Aged Tamariki (Ages 5+)
For children transitioning into school or already in the classroom, we focus on accelerating academic literacy:
Reading Foundations: Blending sounds together to read early-level books with ease.
Guided Writing: Building the confidence to construct clear sentences and master basic punctuation.
Comprehension & Listening: Ensuring they fully understand the classroom instructions and stories.
