About Ellen
I have a lot of experience teaching emotional intelligence and soft skills to adults in recovery from drugs and alcohol. We use a variety of group discussion, quizzes, drawing, art, videos and sheet work to learn and understand. I always ensure people feel listened to, understood and nurtured, meaning they feel safe and comfortable coming to me if they have a problem or don't understand something. I have an undergraduate degree in politics, a postgraduate qualification in Journalism (and experience in the field) and am about to study for a master's in psychotherapy. I am very well adept at academic writing and the curriculum, so can always find ways to understand things simply. I myself, got an A* in English GCSE!

I bring a huge amount of empathy and patience to my teaching, understanding that learning is a process. Learning also has to be fun and engaging, so every day will look different but it will always be interactive and dynamic. I am a highly creative individual and I bring this into all of my teaching, using a multitude of methods to enhance teaching styles. I always strive to make students feel free and in charge of their own decision-making and learning and this comes from instilling confidence in their abilities and existing skillsets. I will champion my students and push them beyond their comfort zone in a way that feels safe and rewarding for the students.
