About Zara

I am a dedicated BCom Law student at the University of Pretoria with a lifelong passion for the English language. My approach to tutoring is built on the belief that academic success is a result of consistent habits rather than just innate talent. This philosophy allowed me to maintain a 70%+ average in English from Grade 8 through to my 78% Matric result, and it is the same discipline I apply to my legal studies today.

Having navigated the challenges of AP English and now managing the rigorous reading and writing demands of a Law degree, I understand exactly what it takes to bridge the gap between "getting by" and truly excelling. I am a professional, patient, and highly organized tutor who takes pride in seeing my students gain the same confidence in their writing that I have developed throughout my academic career.

When I am not studying or tutoring, I am refining my own communication skills through my university subjects, ensuring that the methods I share with my students are both current and effective. I am committed to helping learners in Pretoria unlock their potential and achieve the long-term consistency they need to succeed!

About the lesson

Every student processes language differently, so I move away from "one-size-fits-all" lessons. I begin with a diagnostic approach to identify whether a learner struggles with technical grammar, creative expression, or structural logic. From there, I use scaffolded learning, breaking complex essays into manageable "building blocks" tailored to the student's pace.

I integrate active recall for vocabulary and interactive editing sessions where we co-write, ensuring students find their own voice while gaining the analytical confidence to tackle any exam independently. My goal is to transform English from a daunting subject into a structured, creative outlet they truly understand.
