About Marilena

BA in communication
3 years experience in tuition and teaching. Happy to work with primary student for English and Italian and psychology for secondary school student.
It’s been 3 years now working at Willows school. I started as a teaching assistant and now I am running my own class working as unqualified teacher.
I have an Italian background, a Bachelor degree in Communication and 4 years experience in schools.
The Willows is a primary school, an Academy Trust working for high functional ASD and challenging behaviour children.
I am highly motivated, excited about the prospect of being a teacher.
Last year I attend a level 2 autism course which let me understand more my job visualising people and children inside the Asperger spectrum. I have also a 2 years experience in a tuition center as English and Spanish teacher.
I believe education is the key to unlock potential in young people and working consequently for 3 years in the same school is letting me see the progresses of this children in a such amazing way such as all my passion which is growing every day more and more. The best feeling is the understanding of how much you can help someone from young age to achieve their goals. During my journey I realised how a teacher can help students to gain confidence, fire up their career aims and improve their life.
I put on work at the Willows my management, organising and my team working skills coming from my previous experience as a general restaurant manager.
I have learnt how to manage bad behaviour, how to present a lesson in an interesting way and the impact of children by a teacher personality. My time in school has developed my philosophy of valuing each child as unique individual. I aim to give children as many learning opportunities and experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. During all my placement I have taught ICT and used it to enhance my lessons with interactive white boards, internet, videos, interactive games and work sheets. I have worked with other teachers to plan the curriculum; attend parent’s evening, staff meeting and INSET days; observed and helps run schools clubs; and contributed to the classroom environments through interactive displays..
My teaching practise has confirmed my believe that teaching is one of the most challenging, demanding, exhausting but varied and exciting careers there are.
I really look forward to working in a job that is so important, being privileged to be such a vital part of so many young lives and making a real difference.
