About Jenny

I have over 12 years of teaching experience as a teacher in the UK, in nursery and primary schools in France and Spain, and as a private tutor both in the UK and abroad. In addition, I have worked as an English as a Foreign Language tutor in a language college, giving me extensive experience teaching the primary curriculum and EFL.

I have a PGCE in Primary Education, as well as CELTA and TEFL qualifications. I now work exclusively as a private tutor in York, offering Maths, English and Spanish tuition to pupils in school and home education. I also teach EFL to children and adults, both online and in person, in the UK and abroad.

About the lesson

I have experience teaching all age groups, from early primary to adults, as well as planning lessons and carrying out assessments. I believe that the right balance of challenge and enjoyment is key to helping pupils achieve their full potential.

During the first session, I discuss the pupil’s needs, strengths and goals and use these to plan a programme of lessons. Where appropriate, I can provide homework to consolidate learning between sessions and will mark this and provide feedback.

I have a positive and patient approach and aim to develop a good rapport with every pupil, creating a calm and supportive atmosphere. I strive to make lessons exciting and engaging by using familiar, real-life experiences, fun games and tailored resources, alongside a variety of teaching methods suited to each individual.

I am flexible in my approach and willing to persevere to find what works best for each pupil. My aim is for students to enjoy their lessons while building confidence, making progress and working towards their goals.
