About Homa

I am Homa Javadi Montero, a Spanish-Iranian anthropologist and artist. I studied social and cultural anthropology in France (Sorbonne University in Paris and the University of Bordeaux) and specialized in Persian culture.

My father is an Iranian musician and president of a cultural association called La Casa Persa where he teaches Persian classes, and my mother is a Persian translator, so I have always been involved in the teaching and use of this beautiful language.

I taught Persian at the University of Bordeaux for two years during my time in the city, and I currently teach group and individual tutoring.

I am in love with Iranian culture, language, and art, and I love sharing this passion.

If you've never studied Persian before, you'll learn to read and write in our first classes. In about four classes, you'll learn the alphabet and be able to read and understand simple sentences with ease, as well as formulate your first sentences in Persian.

If you have already had contact with the Persian language, I will focus our classes on conversational fluency first, and then on improving your written and oral comprehension so that you can acquire more vocabulary.

Typical development of a class with me:

- I dedicate the first quarter of the class to conversation.
In each class you will learn to formulate and answer a new question, which will allow us to have increasingly rich and varied exchanges.

My goal is for you to start speaking freely (without fear of making mistakes) from the very beginning and for you to focus on acquiring a language that will be useful for having conversations with other Persian speakers.

- I dedicate the next quarter of the class to dealing with a theoretical aspect of the language (grammar, a new vocabulary group, etc.).

- The last half of the class is focused on reading or listening comprehension (audio or video).

I like to give a small assignment between classes and a quiz to complete at home after about 6 sessions so that the student is aware of their own progress.

My classes are aimed at all levels and all ages. I love teaching my language to both children and adults.
I have taught Persian in French and Spanish to a wide variety of students, which has allowed me to gain significant experience in teaching Persian to different student profiles (from young children to Turkish immigrants to university students).

Having dual nationality and dual culture allows me to convey the Persian language from a special place. I'm a native speaker and have been able to experience the culture and learn the language from within the country, but I also have the necessary distance to be able to share my knowledge with students who may not be familiar with the specifics of this language and the culture that gives it life.
Furthermore, having studied cultural anthropology and specializing in Iran, I like to approach language learning from a cultural perspective, making sure students are familiar with the customs and important works of art linked to the language they are learning.

My father is president of the Spanish-Iranian cultural association in Madrid, La Casa Persa, and I've attended his Persian classes since I was little. Teaching this language has become something natural and necessary for me.
