About Maryse
Hey there! I'm Maryse. I've been playing guitar for over 15 years. I’ve performed at festivals, churches, open mics, and everywhere in between. I also sing, write songs, and dabble with a handful of other instruments. Music isn't just something I do; it's how I think.
As a guitar coach, my approach is simple: we start with songs you actually love, learn to listen to what makes them feel the way they feel, and build from there. I teach you to trust your ear, connect with the music, and play with real feeling. Because the moment guitar stops being fun, you stop playing. That's never the goal.
I play by ear, not by the book, and that's how I teach. No rigid patterns and no theory overload. Just music, your instincts, and a lot of encouragement. My biggest influences are Keith Urban and John Mayer, and my teaching philosophy comes straight from guitarist and educator Tomo Fujita: don't worry, don't compare, don't expect too fast. Be kind to yourself. I take that to heart in every single lesson.
I'm best for beginners and early intermediates, especially if you know a few chords and want to actually go somewhere with them. And if you've ever felt like maybe you can’t be a musician, we can change that!
Book a lesson. Let's make guitar the thing you're so glad you started.

Expect lessons that feel less like class and more like jamming with someone who genuinely loves music. We'll work on songs you actually want to play, learn by ear, and focus on building real feel, not just getting through exercises.
I'll meet you where you are, go at a pace that works for you, and make sure you walk away from every lesson with something you can actually play. No pressure and no judgment. Just good music and steady progress.

Perfect! I just had my first guitar lesson with her, and I highly recommend her! I came in with absolutely no experience and had no idea how to play, but she made everything feel easy and comfortable. She taught me step by step and was incredibly patient whenever I struggled with something. She always made sure to teach in a way that worked best for me and never made me feel rushed. She is so kind and sweet, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Even though the lesson was online, it was very detailed and easy to follow. You can tell she is very skilled, professional, and truly passionate about teaching. I’m so excited to keep learning with her and would definitely recommend her to anyone!
- Great first lesson with Nikhat today! She’s very motivated to learn and I’m sure she will be playing along to her favorite songs in the first month.Maryse's response :

I've known Maryse for years and she's one of the most knowledgeable and kindest people I know. She has a lot of experience teaching others and is a really talented guitarist. One of the first things we bonded over was music and playing the guitar. She's helped me with my own music too. I highly recommend her as a tutor, she's great!
I learned about Maryse’s guitar lessons via her social media pages. She is a very patient individual and creates the perfect environment for beginners! Can’t wait to continue improving under her guidance.
Maryse is one of the most patient, dedicated, and warm guitar players I know. Instruments have never been my thing, but when I wanted to learn a little bit of guitar, I went straight to her. She was able to teach me a simple song in our first session. I highly recommend her!
