About Maxim

I began acting at the age of 13 after joining the famous Sylvia Young Theatre School and being taken on by their Acting agency. I have worked constantly in the entertainment industry for 30 years in high profile TV and independent film. I took LAMDA at school and found it to be hugely inspiring. Reaching Gold Medal in Acting. Alongside my acting career I have taught Drama and LAMDA in independent schools in London and for many years at "Stagecoach" Kensington. I have recently relocated my family to Devon and am excited to continue offering my tuition online.

About the lesson

I have been teaching LAMDA 1 on 1 and in duologue pairs of students for over a decade. I believe in a relaxed, enthusiastic approach that encourages creativity and confidence in my students. Learning to improve diction and to use the voice effectively whilst discovering the power of poetry and performance. I work at independent schools and privately with families that expect a very high level of achievement in their students. My learners' results are consistently awarded "Distinction" by LAMDA. As an Actor regularly working on prestige TV and Film I know what the industry is looking for and help up and coming as well as established performers to achieve their best results. Alongside my professional acting engagements I work with a variety of age groups from Year 2 to university age and adult learners. Classes are delivered online via Google Meet or Zoom. And lesson length is entirely dependent on the grade being prepared for. Introductory exams can start from as little as 15 minutes per session whilst higher and Medal grades require considerably more time. As well as preparing learners for graded examinations I also offer coaching in the production of "self-tapes' and traditional audition techniques. My approach is always the same. Share the love of the work, engender a curiosity for the subject and teach with the performers' confidence and success as my super objective.

Perfect! Maxim met my teenage boys where they were at and was able to quickly identify areas they could develop, giving them great exercises in a pacey session that challenged them and helped them make progress. He modelled positivity and constructive energy and is clearly very knowledgeable and experienced teacher and has quite a strategic approach to nurturing emerging interest and skill. He is full of serious playfulness and built rapport and trust within moments. They have a bundle of fun takeaways which will be easy to put into practice even from the first session. They are buzzing and are looking forward to future sessions. A huge recommend for anyone interested in acting, and in particular for the screen. A great new addition to the South West community if creatives.
