About Jesse

I'm a teacher, linguist, guitarist, and singer from Fargo, North Dakota, USA. After earning my master's degree in English, I spent 7 years teaching American English and pronunciation both online and in the classroom in Moscow, Russia and Tbilisi, Georgia. Now I'm back in the US working remotely as an American accent coach.

I've helped business professionals, singers, and actors from Brazil, China, England, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Lebanon, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Poland, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and Ukraine reduce their accents and improve their English. I've also worked with native English-speaking Americans to reduce their regional dialects.

About the lesson

Accent Reduction

You’ll learn to pronounce words as they're spoken by native speakers and to replicate the intonation and rhythm of American English speech.

Using detailed and illustrated documents, we'll target each sound and aspect of the American English accent. I offer a fully-structured course ranging from pronunciation of vowel sounds and consonants to reductions, linking, intonation and placement/vocal quality. The course will be tailored to your specific needs as I learn more about your accent.

For each new sound, you'll learn proper tongue placement and movement, as well as phonetic skills to help you recognize when to make each sound. We'll work through practice texts while I give targeted feedback on your pronunciation while you're reading aloud, as well as when you're speaking using discussion topics designed to use the sound being practiced. Practice texts, tongue twisters, and audio recordings are included in the course materials, so you will have plenty of opportunity to practice during and between lessons.

We’ll also target advanced grammar and vocabulary as necessary. All lessons are interactive and discussion-based. The focus is on speaking as much as possible using the new pronunciation/grammar/vocabulary you're learning so you'll be comfortable using them outside of the classroom as well.
