I am an American from the State of Michigan, United States. I am a certified English teacher and seasoned English tutor; dedicated to helping students achieve their linguistic goals in a way that suits their unique learning style. I have been teaching for +20 years. I have been an Online ESL Teacher for more than 10 years, and have also taught ESL in many different schools and countries throughout the world for 10+ years prior to that. I have teaching endorsements in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, and TEYL. Furthermore, I also hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree with dual majors in Business Administration & Economics; and a Master of Arts Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). My passion is education and helping other people. My professional experiences are in Education, Education Management, and Business Administration. Whether you are seeking to improve your score on the IELTS/TOEFL Test, improve your Business English, learn fundamental/basic English, or if you just want to practice your Conversational English....If you study ESL with me, we WILL achieve your goal. I have successfully taught ESL to Adults, University, High School, Primary School / Elementary level students in an array of classes in Conversational English, Basic/Advanced Grammar, Business English, Pronunciation, Writing, IELTS/TOEFL test preparation, and General English with a broad variety of nationalities (Latin Americans, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese, Russians, Various Europeans & Middle-Eastern descents). I am flexible, non-discriminatory, and highly adaptive. I have also lived and taught ESL in China for two years (2015-2016) in both public (G1-G6) and private schools (G4), and at three Universities in Xian, China (Univ), Korea for one year (K), Vietnam for one year (G2-G3), and The Philippines for six years (G1-G8) + (Adult). In addition to these in-person classrooms, I also have an abundant amount of experience teaching ESL online to large groups (20-40 students), small groups (2-6 students), as well as 1-on-1 personalized teaching. I would describe my teaching style as highly adaptable. I do not particularly prefer one teaching method; or one way of interacting with my students in the classroom environment. Because in my opinion, each class is different, so is each lesson, and a good teacher should always adjust their teaching to their audience, the level of discipline in the class, the difficulty of the lesson, and so on. I simply prefer the individual approach to teaching, and I alternate between being an authority, demonstrator, facilitator, and delegator. So far it has been working great, so I have no reason to doubt the effectiveness of my teaching style. I would describe it as results-driven. Whether in a 1-on-1 class or a group session, I always try to clearly define the goals with each student. Not what I want to achieve, but what they want to achieve, and what they expect from our cooperation. Then, considering their current level of language skills, and what kind of personality they have, I come up with a clear plan and pace for each lesson. I choose my teaching methods based on each individual student, adjusting them to the plan and the ultimate goal that each student has for each lesson. I understand that learning a new language can feel overwhelming — which is why I provide patient guidance and personalized support to help each student build confidence while practicing valid materials/topics, while increasing knowledge, skills, and ability. My goal is to accelerate and expand English fluency and conversational acumen with students at all ages and learning levels.
